I've noticed this too. The other day I was trying to buy a perfect sword pommel of enchanting for the usual price, 30 - 45K. I had about 7 people PM me in about 10 minutes wanting between 125 - 175K. I called them insane and they said that's the price they've been seeing people buy for. They told me they'd find someone serious who wanted to buy. I was starting to think something was happening to the economy, so I jumped on the GWG Auction House and took a sigh of relief when I saw the average price on there.

People are crazy, sometimes I think they just all get together and make up their own made up prices, and call people stupid who don't buy for that much. I sold somebody an axe grip of fortitude +29 for 10k not very long ago, and they said it was a relief because there were people asking 50-70k or something crazy.

Quite the opposite has been happening to me recently. Aside from pathetic attempts to recieve 25k for an Icy Bow String, when I shout WTB xx and I get public offers. Then there's a bid to see who can get rid of the item o.o
It was a zealous sword mod, for those who are curious.
Perhaps we should give International Districts a shot and see the inflation out there.
edit: on the another note. People try to drive the economy up for their own good. Then they call you n00b to force you to reconsider and shell out the dough.
I..almost fell gor that before.

Chinese farmers are notorious for artificial inflation. They aren't 'dumb' people.
Farmer A "WTS Sword Pommel of Fortitiude +30hp - 100k
Farmer B "WTS Sword Pommel of Fortitiude +30hp - 100k + 5 ectos
Farmer C "WTS Sword Pommel of Fortitiude +30hp - 80k
They know that the 100k+ won't sell but your average joe will snatch the 80k one and think he can sell it for at least another 20k. Prices, therefore, are spiraling upwards rapidly.

But then again, because the market is a bit unstable right now with the upcoming release of Factions, do the sellers really think that they can sell their wares for so much more?
From what I've seen recently, the prices of items have been dropping slightly, so how can someone still fall for absurd prices of 50k extra?
Factions is playings games with us. Oh the irony.

I remember when i first starting playing the game was still fairly new and firey dragon swords were 2- 3 k and then they dropped down to about 500 gp lately. Then a few days ago i saw a guy in ascalon trying to sell a clean not max dmg high req fiery dragon sword for like.. 2.5 k i couldn't believe it. But in games like this i guess people will do whatever it takes to make money i think the most i've ever had at one time is 20 k and the most i ever sold anything for was 2k... lol but maybe iam just nice and don't want to scam people.

Selling for a higher price then most people and trying to make more profit isn't scamming, otherwise I'd have my account banned already.

Yeah I was trying to buy a +5 defense mod for my sword the other day and I get the "chinese farmer" respond offering to sell for 60K. I said hell no, he says 30, I told him it isn't worth more than 5, he said "20 deal?" I said no.
I kept advertising and switched around districts a bit. I come back later and see him advertising "WTB +5 Sword Pommel of Defense - 50K"
I have decided it is best to just avoid trying to buy when a majority of them are on (usually after about 9pm central time for me)
Not that there aren't always someone on, but when the market is flooded with them, they can bounce off each other and make it near impossible to get something in a quick time based on the guru pricing.

I have seen a chinese farmer spamming for "wtb zealous sword hilt 20k" then I pm him and opened the trade windows but he didn't put 20k on it, so I just closed the windows becasue he never pm me back. Afterwards I saw him spamming for many more weapons for high price, of course if he was really buying he shouldn't have spammed for hours.
Soon I saw someone spamming "wts sword prommel +30hp 80k" Then I pm him and he spammed again" wts sword prommel +30hp c/o100k by XXX, and the name was the chinese farmer. I think the chinese farmer and those sellers are a clan, I think those china sweatshop hire several people spam WTB in LA to help their farmers to sell easier.
Yes it is ridiculous that everthing has been going down except for upgrades, something must be wrong. chinese farmers mess everything up.

I've seen that guy before. His deals do work a lot of the time... Some people spend their money and don't really care.

They offer to buy, not with the actual intent to buy. All they need is for people looking to seel to see that price and jack up their own, thereby making their own prices seem appropriate. They are trying to manipulate the trade system.
If they argue I usually say more than the normal and prompt them for questions. The worst thing you can do to these people is waste their time. Time not selling is lost money to them. Keep them occupied. If they start cussing you out, which some will, SS and report. Then they will be shut down.
Might not be a bad thing to do when bored one night
